Sector data
Aggregate figures across every brand on the Register. Anything marked “franchisor-reported” comes from a claimed listing and carries the franchisor’s own figures; everything else is drawn from public sources or counted directly from published reviews.
Sector breakdown
By category, once enough brands are claimed to make this meaningful.
Methodology
“Franchisor-reported” figures (unit counts, openings, closures) are entered by the franchisor after they claim their listing. We don’t independently audit these numbers — we show them as reported, dated, and attributed. Where reviews or news contradict a franchisor’s figures, that’s flagged on the brand’s page.
“Legal flags” come from a mix of automated monitoring of public insolvency and court notices, and from substantiated, sourced reports submitted through the Register. A flag means a legal matter has been reported in connection with the brand — it is not a finding of wrongdoing.
BFA accreditation status is checked against the British Franchise Association’s published member list.
